Ipswich is a hub for small independent shops, appearing in the top ten of a recent poll of towns and cities in the UK with the most independent shops!
With an eclectic mix of boutiques, gift stores, great artisan coffee and local independent shops you can visit major chains on the high street (such as Marks & Spencer, WH Smith, Primark, and Boots) enjoy Ipswich Market for fresh produce around the Cornhill, yet turn the corner for little independent shops tucked off the main thoroughfare in The Walk or Buttermarket.
The town centre has three Shopping Centres – Sailmakers in the High Street, the Buttermarket Shopping Centre and a dedicated indoor space for Microshops in Carr Street.
Many indie shops are located in an area known as ‘The Saints’ (St Nicholas’ Street and St Peter’s Street), which is one of the town’s oldest and most historical areas. It’s perfectly situated just five minutes from the town centre and the waterfront area. Offering a lovely walk between these two beautiful central locations.
