Things To Do

Ipswich has an array of ‘things to do’ with scenic walks around Christchurch or Holywells parks or boats along the heritage harbour at Ipswich waterfront where you can enjoy river trips with the Orwell Lady in the summer months. In the town centre why not watch a film at one of three cinemas, try axe throwing at Boom Battle Bar, watch an Ipswich Town football match at Portman Road or play for yourself with friends at Goals.

With many theatres and arts organisations in the town, Ipswich is a great place to watch a live performance of dance, drama or music with touring London shows and pop icons often visiting Ipswich Regent Theatre.

As the oldest recorded UK town, Ipswich also has a rich heritage and history with a dedicated Museum, The Hold – home of Suffolk Archives, Ipswich Art Gallery, many churches with their own unique histories and local groups like the Ipswich Society, Ipswich Maritime Trust and Ipswich Institute celebrating the town’s heritage. Did you know that Cardinal Thomas Wolsey was born here? There are many references to this great man around the town…
