Come and visit Ipswich County Library in Northgate Street.

COVID-19 NOTICE

We are pleased to let you know that we will be reopening to customers for Select & Collect only on Monday 6th July.
Customers will need to arrange a collection slot, these will be open by calling 01473 927260 from 6th July Mon-Sat 11:00-15:00 or emailing ipswich.library@suffolklibraries.co.uk To avoid disappointment please book your slot. These times and the service provided will be reviewed regularly.

Please note, throughout July, there will be no browsing in the library.

Customers will be able to request books from Ipswich’s own library stock or we can select 10 items for you based on your preferred genre/author.

Please also note the following:
• All charges to be suspended throughout July and August

• Book returns available out of hours.

• Customers are asked to bring a bag for them to place their books in on collection

• Maximum of ten books per borrower.

• Reservations will not be available during July

• DVDs/CDs will be free to borrow throughout July/August

• Computer access will not be available

• Printing, scanning and photocopying will not be available

• Cash will not be accepted, please check out our new online payment facility

• New customers can join online. We will advise you when this service becomes available in the library

While we appreciate the initial service is very different to the one that our customers are used to, all decisions have been taken with staff and customer safety in mind. All transactions will take place in the Old Foundry Road lobby however, we appreciate there may be times where we have to relax this to support people with additional needs.

Events

Come try out one of our regular or one-off events and activities including: Wordplay sessions for children and families, reading groups, social activities for older people, and plenty of surprising and engaging things to do year round.


Collections

As well as borrowing fiction and non-fiction books you can borrow DVDs, CDs, and board games. Explore the collection on our online catalogue

You can borrow copies of plays and music vocal scores. Larger groups, orchestras, bands, repertory companies, dramatic societies, play reading circles or individuals may wish to subscribe to the Music and Drama Library.

Your library card also gives you access to thousands of the latest eBooks, magazines, newspapers, eAudio and music.


Room Rental

Our newly configured Hub offers local businesses and groups a range of modern bookable rooms with presentation facilities. The three large meeting rooms provide presentation equipment, internet access, conference call facilities, refreshments and air conditioning. All rooms are configurable to your needs.

   

Wedding Ceremonies

The Northgate Room is the library's most attractive and striking room. Normally used as the library's study and reference area, the room is now available to hire for weddings and other ceremonies.
