In winter 2022 renovations were made to this former church, which reopened as a 200-capacity music venue in 2023.

St Stephen’s Church is a 200 capacity music venue that in 2019, through test events and festivals, proved there was a need for conversion into a music venue in Ipswich town centre.

In winter 2022, with investment from Ipswich Borough Council and SIGIF Grant funding, renovations to the Church were made to reopen the space as a music and arts venue in spring 2023.

St Stephen’s Church is in the centre of Ipswich and bridges the gap between two other local music venues in the town – The Smokehouse and The Baths.

The Church now enables the next level of touring bands to visit, securing Ipswich on the national touring circuit. The venue also has a daytime and twilight offer with a versatile café/bar area and the space also available for private hire. It is also home to Hex Record Shop.

Acts who have played here so far include Don Letts, James Walsh, Los Bitchos, Richard Dawson, Jeffrey Lewis, Robyn Hitchcock, Scott Matthews and Miki Berenyi.
