Wolsey Writers is a creative writing group based at New Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich, since 2015.
This community includes novelists, scriptwriters, poets, storytellers, children’s literature, comedy, and non-fiction. We welcome writing and writers from any genre!
The group welcomes writers from diverse backgrounds, all levels of experience and aspirations of every size – from haiku to blockbuster trilogy.
Led by Katie Ward, an award-winning author from Suffolk, every session includes tips to improve your creative practice, focused writing time, peer support and inspiration.
During 2026 the Wolsey Writers will meet on (almost) every first Saturday of the month in the upstairs bar at the Theatre. Doors open 10am for 10:30am start, ending by 12pm.
Tickets are pay what you feel, and places are available to book now from the box office.
Planned 2026 meeting dates are as follows:
3 January, 7 February, 7 March, 11 April (tbc), 2 May, 6 June, 4 July, 5 September, 3 October, 7 November and 5 December.
