Crossing the Line

Tuesday 12th May

7pm – 8:50pm at New Wolsey Theatre

A powerful drama exploring the devastating impact of county lines and the fight to escape.
Erik’s life has fallen apart since Dad died. Money is tight, his baby sisters demand all Mum’s attention, and concentrating on homework feels impossible.

As he turns away from school and friends, Erik’s bad behaviour attracts the wrong crowd. He’s excited by hanging with a new crew, and what seems like easy money for trainers and a phone. But Erik is quickly sucked in to a dark world of drug-dealing, violence and lies, risking not just his own safety, but that of his whole family.

Crossing the Line is a powerful drama, inspired by a true story. Adapted from Tia Fisher’s award-winning verse novel and devised with input from young people, it explores the devastating impact of county lines and the strength that can be found in the face of it.

Based on the novel by Tia Fisher. Adapted for the stage by Helena McBurney. Directed by Katie Thompson.

A St George’s Theatre production, supported by Norfolk & Norwich Festival. Supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England, The National Lottery Community Fund, Red Socks Charitable Trust, Adam and Tracy Darling, Melanie Darling and Chadwicks.

There will be a post-show talk following the performance. This is a chance for you to ask the cast and creatives of the show any questions you have, and should last around 20 minutes.

This event is part of the In the Works Festival – a vibrant celebration of bold new ideas and the very best local, regional and national artists. From theatre and music to art and spoken word, the festival offers audiences a vibrant mix of bold new writing, works‑in‑progress, experiments, and one‑off events.
