10:15am, 11:15am, 1pm, or 2pm sessions at Christchurch Mansion
On Wednesday 12th August join Ipswich Art Society artists Evelyn Planitzer and Amanda Warren to create your own Constable inspired sketchbook.
Did you know that John Constable always carried a small pocket sketchbook and pencils with him when walking the Suffolk landscape? He noted down all sorts of things, feelings, ideas or the weather on particular days, paying attention to the clouds and the landscape around him.
Together we’ll have a go at using a small pocket sketchbook (provided) like John Constable and step out to observe and sketch what we can see. We’ll use different materials to make black and white or colourful sketches. We might even try to fill all pages in our sketch book!
Sessions are 45 minutes long and start at 10:15 AM, 11:15 AM, 1 PM, and 2 PM. All materials will be provided along with full guidance. This event is suitable for ages 5+. Younger children may need help from an adult. Under-16s must be accompanied by a parent or carer at all times.
This workshop will take place in the Great Hall, located on the ground floor. For helpful information, such as how to find us and what facilities Christchurch Mansion has, we recommend reading our Access information: Access at the Mansion
The Constable 250 project is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we are able to deliver Constable inspired family holiday workshops March 2026 – March 2027.
