When Alice returns from a gruelling Antarctic odyssey, she finds that everything has changed. There’s been a flood, a funeral and a new romance.
At 1:30am, her daughter Alba is sleeping. Her mother, Eve, has never been more awake. And Alice? Maybe the cracks she discovered in the Antarctic ice have followed her home.
Albatross is an epic family drama that takes us to the very boundaries of love and devotion in the age of climate catastrophe.
Written by Martha Loader, a Suffolk playwright and Associate Artist of the New Wolsey Theatre. She is both a Bruntwood Prize winner and George Devine award-winner, and her previous play, Bindweed, played at the New Wolsey in June 2024.
There will be a post-show talk following the performance. This is a chance for you to ask the cast and creatives of the show any questions you have, and should last around 20 minutes.
