Ipswich & Suffolk Club

The Private Members' Club in the Heart of Ipswich

The Ipswich and Suffolk Club is a private members club that offers its members various social, sporting and dining benefits. It is also available for hire to members and non-members as an ideal venue for small to medium-sized meetings and conferences, civil weddings, private parties and functions.

Tucked unobtrusively between Northgate Street and Tower Street, in the shadow of St Mary Le Tower Church, the club has provided a haven for its members since the 19th Century, and The Ipswich & Suffolk Club has long been referred to as one of Suffolk’s best- kept secrets.

Formerly the Archdeacon of Suffolk’s residence, Archdeacon’s House was built on the original Archdeacon’s Palace site and is steeped in history. Today’s building is mainly 18th/19th Century but retains some of the 16th/17th Century structure. The 15th Century gatehouse fronting Northgate Street was initially commissioned by William Pykenham in 1471 and is the oldest remaining evidence of the original building.

Inside Archdeacon’s House, the club offers a comfortable and elegant venue for its many social activities, and its grounds provide a convenient town-centre parking facility exclusively for its members.
