Heritage Open Day venues to visit

Friday 11th September - Sunday 20th September

See HOD website of visit at The Cornhill

Every year heritage venues right across the UK open their doors for free and run local history and heritage themed events as a collective celebration of the wonderful historical buildings that exist.

This year the dates for Heritage Open Days are 11 to 20 September, and the Ipswich Society has once again worked with venues around Ipswich to invite people through their doors for tours and to learn about the history of some of its buildings.

Venues taking part this year include:

  • Gippeswyk Hall and Avenue Theatre, home of Red Rose Chain
  • Ipswich Institute’s Reading Room and Library
  • The Unitarian Meeting House
  • St Clement’s Church
  • The Hold, home of Suffolk Archives
  • Bethesda Baptist Church
  • Museum Street Methodist Church
  • The Admiral’s House
  • The Cornhill
  • Ancient House
  • The Old Custom House
  • Curzon Lodge
  • St Margaret’s Church
  • Ipswich School
  • St Mary’s Church
  • St Peter’s by the Waterfront
  • Ipswich Masonic Hall
  • Mutual House, home of Suffolk Building Society
  • Fore Street Swimming Pool

Take a look at the Heritage Open Day’s website for more information and event details at each location.
