Ipswich Waterfront Walk

Monday 16th March - Friday 31st December

Any time at Isaacs on the Quay

The Ipswich Waterfront Walk is a varied 5.5 mile (9km) route through open green spaces, historic landscapes to the vibrant urban waterfront – between Suffolk Food Hall one side of the Orwell Bridge and Pipers Vale on the other.

Orwell Bridge opened in 1982, the pilings of the Orwell Bridge sink 40m into the river bottom, the central span was the longest prestressed concrete span in the UK when the bridge opened, and it is used by up to 60,000 vehicles a day.

This route allows walkers to discover Pipers Vale Nature Reserve, the managed parkland of Holywells Park with its famous links to the Cobbold family and brewery. Enjoy the wide variety of cafes, restaurants, bistros and hotels around Ipswich waterfront.

The Ipswich Waterfront Walk offers an extension to the King Charles III England Coast Path beyond Orwell Bridge into Ipswich.

Allow at least 3 hours to complete the walk, much more if you plan to stop, visit the varied sites, enjoy a meal, or even stay overnight.
