Leisure Learning: Upcycling

This workshop is a hands-on session for anyone who wants to get started with upcycling.

You will explore the creative reuse of old furniture, useless or unwanted items and materials, and transform these into something new, either a usable product or a creative experiment.

You will be working on your own piece throughout the workshop, using the tools and equipment alongside relaxed and friendly tutor guidance in a safe environment. You will learn and value the financial benefits of upcycling and create a beautiful piece to take home with you.

There will be some materials you’ll need to bring, such as your items to upcycle; old stool, chair, small table, lampshade, reclaimed timber, driftwood, pallets, clothing, fabrics etc. alongside paints, varnish and adhesives, but these can be chosen in consultation with your tutor once you start the course and make a plan of what you want to achieve. This course is open to all levels and abilities and can also be fun for couples.

As the course develops, each week you may be required to bring in more items to work with. These will be chose in consultation with your tutor and dependant on your own inspirations!
