Jazz by the Waterfront: Swing Machine

Swing Machine is an Ipswich-based big band recreating the much-loved sounds of the 30s, 40s and 50s.

Their members, all enthusiasts of the genre, came together to play the music they love, and since those early days the band has gone from strength to strength, attracting quite a following along the way.

Along with ballroom and latin styles the band’s forte, of course, is swing music and they take great delight in bringing to their audiences the music of Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Ted Heath, Woody Herman, Duke Ellington and Stan Kenton et al. They have two top-class vocalists who perform both individually and as a duo, covering songs made famous by Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Ella Fitzgerald, Michael Bublé, Harry Connick Jr., etc. Also complementing the band are some fabulous soloists who add the ‘icing on the cake’ to the arrangements.
