Ipswich’s very own independent cinema; King Street Cinema (formerly Ipswich Film Theatre) showcases the finest British stories, world film, documentaries, indie releases and cult classics.
King Street Cinema is based within the Corn Exchange in the heart of Ipswich and has the atmosphere of a classic picture-house, with it's bare‑brick walls and intimate screens that help deliver the perfect punch of emotion. The team at King Street Cinema are passionate about sharing the power of film whilst being a platform for emerging film-makers.
King Street Cinema is the host of the Suffolk Shorts Film Festival; an annual showcase and award ceremony celebrating the best short films and local film-making talent.
"We believe that short films are the future. Telling a story in a short film takes skill and determination, but it also frees you from the constraints and influences often associated with features or traditional commissioning. Shorts are not just practice runs, they are an art form in their own right."
