The Ipswich Regent is East Anglia's largest theatre boasting more than 1,500 seats. Located in St Helen's street, the Regent Theatre opened in 1929 and it was among the first UK theatres to play films with sound. Throughout the years the theatres top acts have included the likes of The Beatles, The Walker Brothers and Jimi Hendrix. It became a Gaumont cinema before being saved for live entertainment by the borough council in 1991 and reverting to the Regent name.
It features top names across comedy, music and theatre – West End shows at local prices.
