Chairman of All About Ipswich, Dave Muller, hasn't let this challenging time stop him from enjoying his favourite meals from Ipswich restaurant, he's just swapped his evenings out in town with a takeaway!

Here's Dave's latest Ipswich takeaway review, we're calling it #DavesDinner...

"Just great fast food!"

"Such was the demand on Friday that the restaurant closed for a brief period, but we managed to secure a delivery slot and ordered three dishes being fully aware of the generous portion sizes.

We shared chilli and pepper squid as a starter which always excels with a glass of chilled white wine. Pam ordered the Singapore Vermicelli which was nearly my first choice; pork, prawn and chicken with fine rice noodles with a curry oil that was slightly spicy-hot. Absolutely delicious and packaged to keep hot.

Likewise my own choice of Amai Prawn with vegetables and udon noodles which were thick and full of moisture as were the succulent prawns. This was spicy-hot but easy to eat with a fabulous blend of tastes.

This is a terrific independent restaurant in the town centre and we can see why it's a firm favourite."

"This excellent independent eatery did not disappoint!"

"We decided to go for a light late supper from The Forge Kitchen on Duke Street; this excellent independent restaurant and bar did not disappoint!

The food arrived carefully packed and hot. We shared four of their 'Forge Flavour' small-plates; all of which were very generous portions. The Halloumi Bites served with Sweet Chilli Sauce were perfectly cooked and very tasty as were the Smoked Mixed Beans. These are both real favourites of mine.

"The Sweet Potatoes Fries, which my wife loves, were amongst the best I had tasted and the portion of Smoked Sausage and Chorizo was almost a main meal in itself and really high quality. Highly recommended."

"Who doesn't love a great fish & chippy!"

"I ordered from a local business based in Ipswich for a most enjoyable Saturday night delivery. It’s all online with Takeaway Taxi, making placing an order very simple. I ordered Rock Eel and my wife ordered Cod along with a portion of chips, all medium sized with a side of mushy peas.

The food arrived ahead of time well wrapped and nicely warm. Nacton Road Fish Bar has an excellent reputation and deservedly so; the Rock Eel was succulent and perfectly cooked as was the Cod, both with just the right amount of batter. The medium sized portion of chips was more than enough and as a lover of mushy peas these were spot on.

A little expensive for two with the Taxi fare but, in lockdown, fully worth the luxury of door-to-door service and all whilst supporting a local business. Highly recommended!"

"An excellent way to start the weekend!"

"This week we sampled an Indian Bangladeshi meal from a long established family run restaurant on Fore Street, A Passage to India. The food was delivered slightly early on Friday evening and was very well packed. We ordered Chicken Tikka as a starter, Bhuna King Prawn, Lamb Tikka Biriani and for sides; Tarka Dhal ,Gobi Bhajee and Tandoori Roti. As ever, Sayeed added a few extras in case we didn’t have enough!"

The meat was beautifully cooked and I particularly liked the King Prawn Bhuna with the prawns cooked to retain the most delightful flavour. The Tarka Dhal, a delicious lentil dish, was plentiful and almost a meal in itself along with the Gobi Bhajee which is cauliflower in a fragrant sauce. The rice and roti was more than enough to set the meal off and as ever there was enough left over for another meal. An excellent way to start the weekend."

"My wife and I enjoyed a top class meal from this local family run restaurant, which is one of our favourites."

"The food arrived with perfect timing on our doorstep Friday evening. We shared Prawns with Sesame (one of my personal favourites) along with Barbecued Spare Ribs from the starter menu. This was followed by Lamb in Black Bean Sauce , Tao-Pan Prawns Peking Style and the ‘Hunan’ Spicy Fried Fine Noodles.

All the food was cooked to perfection maintaining the high quality Trongs is known for. The lamb was thinly sliced and succulent and the prawns retained that exceptional flavour and were still hot as if served in the restaurant. The noodles set the meal off and all we missed was the fabulous attentive service always provided in-house."
