Suffolk a cyclists paradise

POSTED ON: 15/05/2017

Whether you’re a regular cyclist, looking to take on your first sportive challenge, or just want a day out with the family the Crafted Classique (part of the Ipswich Cycling Weekend), has something for everyone.

Already a popular destination for professional and leisure cyclists alike, Suffolk is a veritable cyclist’s paradise, which is why it’s no coincidence that the area attracts such events as the Aviva Women’s Tour and Tour of Britain. Despite the relatively flat terrain, there is cycling in Suffolk for all abilities, and all of it comes with a beautiful view.

Returning for the fourth year on Saturday 12th August, The Crafted Classique blends the stunning Suffolk countryside with a selection of exciting and challenging routes suitable for all abilities, quality local produce and a relaxed, family friendly atmosphere.

Cyclists can challenge themselves to cycle 55km, 100km or 100miles, starting at the historic Ipswich Marina with its unique maritime architecture. Riders can begin their day with fresh coffee, delicious bacon rolls and pastries before rolling out across the Suffolk countryside through idyllic towns and villages.

The 3 picturesque routes to choose from provide the perfect opportunity to discover the delights our county has to offer. From one of England’s most complete and unusual castles in Orford and stretching up to Aldeburgh along the Heritage Coast, before returning to the Neptune Marina finishing line to celebrate your achievement.

Supported by a plethora of Ipswich businesses including, Elmy Cycles who provide expert mechanical support throughout the day, Calvors Brewery who join the Classique as drinks sponsor for 2017 and the fantastic team at Cult Café Bar who host live music through the afternoon and the ever popular hog roast.

Upon reaching the finish line riders can treat themselves to a complimentary beer, refreshments, and a post-ride massage courtesy of Allied Health Professionals Suffolk whilst relaxing and taking in the waterfront atmosphere.
