Sneak peak of the new EMPIRE Cinema!

With 14 screens including a 20x8m wall-to-wall screen, Dolby Atmos system giving immersive sound and, most exciting of all,  sofas! - EMPIRE brings state-of-the-art cinema to Ipswich town centre.

It's mind-boggling how EMPIRE have squeezed it all in to the top floor of the Buttermarket. The small entrance at the top of the stairs opens out to the ticket office where the usual treats are for sale along with Adnams and Ben & Jerrys ice cream.

This artist's impression of the Buttermarket is rapidly becoming an exciting reality.

Once you've bought your ticket and made your way to the screens, the cinema really opens up, with plush carpets and fairground-style signs and lighting.

Every screen has luxury seating as standard along with recliner seats and sofa seats, which are obviously great for dates but also nice for parents and children. There are special screenings available for parents and babies, EMPIRE seniors screenings and Audio Describe films.

Cosy sofa seats, perfect for dates and for parents with children.

The cinema also boasts on of the largest screens in East Anglia, a 20x8m screen that fills the entire wall and most of your peripheral version. All the screens feature Dolby Atmos sound that creates immersive 360 sounds.

The largest screen in Ipswich and one of the largest screens in East Anglia.

Talks of a cinema opening in the Buttermarket have been floating around for years and it's great to finally see them come to light. And with Wagamama, Byron, Cosy Club and Prezzo all open plus the announcement that Superbowl is bringing bowling, laser quest, arcades and lots more to the Buttermarket - it's an exciting time for the town centre.

We're sure if you asked nicely the team at EMPIRE would love to show you around!

A standard ticket is £7 (£9.50 to see it in one of the biggest screens) and it's an extra £1 for a sofa seat and £2.50 for a recliner.
