Final designs for Ipswich Cornhill released...

Exciting new images have been released giving us a peak into the future of Ipswich Cornhill.

The new plans include a contemporary sculpture, a water feature and a dynamic new space for the market stalls, honouring the history of the town whilst helping take Ipswich into the future.

The central sculpture will be made up of four columned arches that are inspired by the former historic gates that once featured on Cornhill. The arches also echo the four figures that stand on the town hall, brining something modern and exciting to the centre of town.

New spaces for the market stalls are being created to help make the town square more dynamic and to create better links with the surrounding shops and towards Queen Street and Giles Circus.

The redevelopment of Cornhill is a big step in improving the town centre, hopefully encouraging new shops and restaurants to come to the centre of town, as well as being a key part of the Ipswich Vision, which aims to bring more prosperity to the town centre.

Once the designs have been given the full go-ahead the construction will begin next January and work is due to be completed ready for Christmas 2018.
