Ta ta to the trotters and thank you

Now that the Pigs Gone Wild trail has finished and the pigs are now settling into their new homes, we wanted to say another huge thank you to all the people who visited the trail and supported the hospice.

It has been a fantastic event to be part of and has generated a really strong sense of fun and community with everyone we have spoken to.

Everyone at St Elizabeth Hospice – whether they are staff, patients or volunteers – all went a bit pig-crazy this summer! The verdict has been unanimous: the impact from the trail has been enormous. It has made a huge difference and will leave a lasting legacy for the hospice.

The trail didn’t just get people talking – and walking – it has also given a huge boost to the hospice, which is something very close to my heart. Pigs Gone Wild has helped to raise awareness of what the hospice does and how it cares for local people as well as boosting funds through the amazing success of the auction.

We were thrilled to announce that the auction raised £200,000 – double what we had expected. This money will enable us to continue our vital nursing care supporting people who are living with a progressive illness.

It has been sad to say goodbye to the pigs, but it’s heart-warming to see them go off to their new homes. Some of them are even staying on view so people can still see them!

To everyone who took part in Pigs Gone Wild; who shared pictures and stories about the trail and about the hospice – thank you so much. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

We will certainly be doing another trail in the future so watch this space for more information!
